Dress Shirts For Men – For Christmas!

Oh No! Isn’t that right up there with socks and ties, and the obligatory “thanks, it’s exactly what I wanted”.

You’d be right if you only bought the $10 special you spotted at the department store, the light blue office shirt that’s about as exciting as the grey one next to it in the wardrobe. But, if you jazz things up a bit and liven up the style factor, you can still give dress shirts for Christmas gifts that will put a genuine smile on their face.

Break The Habit

First things first. If you’re going to give a dress shirt for a Christmas gift, it has to be something special. It is the festive season after all! So no boring colours or shades, or nothing too conservative, even if the man you’re giving this too is a bit of a “stick in the mud.” Everyone secretly likes having something to wear that is a bit more “out there” than their usual attire, especially if they can say that it was a gift. That way, the risk is minimal. If it’s not great feedback , they can blame the giver. If the feedback is positive, they can join in by saying how much they like it. Either way, this is when you buy them that something a bit more special than the usual.

So Where To Start

There are a number of factors that will play into your final decision, a couple being the style and colour, others being availability and price.

For gift giving, I totally recommend buying online. This is purely based on two things: convenience and guarantees. This is not the time of year for fighting your way through shopping centres, especially when you may not really be sure of what you’re looking for. You’ll be looking for something to grab your attention. You also need to know that if the shirt fit is a little off, it’s going to be easy to replace.

Frankly the online guarantees and processes are much better than most stores and the likelihood of the replacement shirt being the same as the one your originally purchased is better online than in a department store with limited stock.

The Usual Suspects – Are Still A Good Choice

Now I have to mention some brands here that prove themselves dependable time and time again.

Charles Tyrwhitt has a great range, some decent discounts at the moment, and an outstanding guarantee. Check out what they have to offer and you won’t be disappointed. Quality shirts through and through.

TM Lewin is another British shirt maker who won’t disappoint. Beautifully made shirts with style. Also a good guarantee to make things easy.

Brooks Brothers, the iconic American shirt maker could be a good choice if you want to go traditional.

But Didn’t I Say Something Special?

Not that the above brands aren’t special. They all make top quality shirts, but maybe you’re looking for something different, something most people don’t have and wouldn’t buy for themselves.

Like I said, price might play a part in your decision, so depending on your budget and who you’re buying for, here are some ideas for a shirt, just that bit different.

Gucci Dress Shirts For Men

GucciMost people think of Gucci as a high end, fashion run-way type of brand. And they’re right, to a point. Gucci certainly epitomizes Italian flair and fashion, but thankfully not everything in Gucci’s range is out of reach.

Within reach, and available at Amazon for speedy delivery are a range of Gucci dress shirts that include classic button downs that are 100% cotton and made in Italy, to multi-coloured 100% silk shirts also made in Italy.

VersaceVersace Dress Shirts For Men

Equally at home in the world of high fashion, is Versace. Most us never think about owning such brands as their reputation for extreme quality is matched only by their reputation for being extremely expensive. Yet, their dress shirt range for men spans shirts that would almost pass unnoticed in the work office to dress shirt displaying characteristic patterns such as plaid and baroque. Certainly worth considering.

ArmaniArmani Dress Shirts For Men

With it’s brands of Giorgio Armani, Armani Jeans, Emporio Armani, and Armani Echange, the Armani brand has made itself more accessible to the mainstream market. To have an Armani piece or two in the wardrobe is still on many men’s wishlists. Check out the stylish grey dress shirt with scattered eagle emblem, or checked shirt as only Armani can.

Just The Beginning

Really this is just the beginning. Can you imagine trying to explore such an extensive range of dress shirts any other way online. That would be crazy.

There are no end of luxurious, eye-catching shirts out there. You only have to look. So to finish up this post here is my final recommendation:

Step 1: Jump on the websites of Charles Tyrwhitt, TM Lewin and Brooks Brother. Just browse. Look at the range and the colours only. Don’t bother with fit and the various options at this stage.

Step 2: Click here to jump onto Amazon. This link will take you straight to the search results for “dress shirts for men”. Make sure the relevance is sorting the results by price from highest too lowest. This way you’ll see the most expensive shirts first, and also the most dramatic! You can then scroll down and through the options until to see something that really takes your eye, where you are also happy with the price.

This makes things so easy, and quite fun. There are some shirts that you really have to see t0 believe!

Wow. Love your sense of style and recommendations. Very practical! I personally don’t really take too much note of the brands that I purchase.

    Perhaps I should more.

Do you have any tips on what kind of shirt would be good for a pretty high stakes interview- especially if my budget isn’t too high?

Thanks for taking time out to visit. FYI, I I also never used to take much note of the shirts that I purchased as I was often shopping for the cheapest shirt as long as it didn’t have an obviously cheap look about it. I still don’t buy the brands for their brand name, but more so for the quality and value that I have found them to consistently offer. If that changed, I wouldn’t buy the brand for status or anything like that.

Good question by the way. Myself, I have always fallen back to a more conservative style of shirt when in a high stakes situation. This is because I not only want to be comfortable, but I don’t want the shirt to be a distraction.

I therefore recommend a good quality white shirt. Sounds boring I know, but a good quality white shirt can be dressed up with a suit and tie, and dressed right down by pairing it with jeans. Add a suit jacket, leave the tie at home and you’ve got a modern executive look that pretty flexible too. Depending on how you wear it, a white shirt can be formal, casual, or cool. I would also recommend a non-iron shirt such as that offered by Charles Tyrwhitt as they resist creasing all day long. Add just a touch of modern edge to the shirt by going with a cutaway collar too. Check this post if you don’t know what I mean. http://businessshirtsformen.com/choosing-a-collar-

If you simply can’t bring yourself to wear a white shirt then look for a pattern such as the windsor check;see my review here: http://businessshirtsformen.com/charles-tyrwhitt-r

You don’t have to choose this style exactly, but note that it is a pattern with only one colour, so it keep things simple but still holds some interest.

Keeping budget in mind means shopping the specials and promotions, provided you have time. With the right promotion you can pick up CT Shirts for as little as $39.95, which is outstanding value. Check out the Clearance offers as well. Provided you can get the right size, you’ll save lots of money.

Hope this helps and good luck with the interview.

Great article! With the festive season on the way, your information was invaluable. I’ve always been known as a bit of a scruffy dresser, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve found that I would like to re invent myself!

I’ll be sure to be adding a couple of Gucci’s to my Christmas wish list.

    Thanks for the info!

Hi and thanks for dropping by. Gucci certainly is one of those amazing brands for style and recognition.Thankfully their quality is good too and you can be sure than anything you own from Gucci will last a very long time, as long as take care of it of course.
